Online fashion has a trust problem: you can’t feel the fabric, and you can’t know it will fit. So the industry fakes it — AI swaps that flatter, size charts no one reads — and nearly a third of everything sold comes back. RealMaya is built on the opposite bet: tell the truth.
The name is the thesis
RealMaya is Real + Maya — and maya, in Indian thought, means illusion: the appearance of things, the virtual. Online shopping today is nearly all maya — flattering images, models who aren’t you, a fit you can’t feel. We didn’t set out to defeat the virtual; we set out to make it honest. RealMaya is where the real world and the virtual one finally coexist without one lying to you about the other: your true body, the seller’s true garment, and an AI that shows you what’s real and admits what it can’t. The real, and the maya — told straight.
Honest fit, not a flattering fake
We don’t show you a seductive AI image of yourself in a dress. We show you an honest verdict — your real measurements against the seller’s real size spec — always phrased as an estimate, never a guarantee. When the data can’t answer, we say so, and connect you to the seller, live. Here, honesty isn’t a feature bolted on. It’s the architecture: the fit engine is deterministic and auditable, the AI never invents a “it fits,” and a human can always step in.
Governance by design
RealMaya handles the most sensitive data in fashion — your body. It is built by a certified AI-governance auditor, to standard: privacy-by-design, deterministic and auditable AI, human-in-the-loop, and alignment with India’s DPDP Act, the GDPR, and ISO/IEC 42001. We hold ourselves to the same bar we’d audit anyone else against — because trust in a body-data product has to be earned, not claimed.
The founder
RealMaya is founded by Veera Raghavan Ramanathan — an ISO/IEC 42001 & ISO 27001 Lead Auditor with 25+ years across technology and operations, a graduate of MIT Professional Education’s Applied Agentic AI program, and holder of five patents in AI and immersive technology. The through-line of his work is the principle RealMaya is built on: AI you can trust because you can check it.
Built founder-led, amplified by AI
RealMaya was architected and shipped founder-led, working alongside AI agents — agentic development used the way we believe it should be: to accelerate human judgment, not replace it. The deterministic core, the honesty guardrails, and every hard decision are human calls the AI helped execute at speed. It’s our thesis, lived: applied agentic AI, done responsibly.
